Our collaborative creation is really starting to take shape, and today I will present you with another idea to diversify and decorate our vintage notebook!

This time, we will be using envelopes.

A teraz działamy z kopertami :)

Koperty dają nam dużo możliwości w journalingu. Świetnie sprawdzają się jako schowki, skrytki, bo są pojemne jak również jako kieszonki. Oszczędzają nam pracy przy wycinaniu tychże kieszonek samodzielnie. Można z nich zrobić klapki, które jednocześnie będą kieszonkami, a nawet całe strony. Zużyte i dodatkowo poplamione herbatą czy kawą dają świetny efekt starości, o który też w junkach chodzi. Te z okienkami można dodatkowo ozdobić np. podklejając ususzony kwiatem w okienku.  Krótko mówiąc koperty naprawdę fajnie ubogacają junk journal! 

Dziś moje trzy pomysły na ich użycie w tym notesie.

And now let's get to work with envelopes :)

Envelopes offer us a lot of possibilities in journaling. They work great as storage spaces and secret compartments because they're spacious, and they can also serve as pockets. They save us the effort of cutting out pockets ourselves. You can turn them into flaps that double as pockets or even use them to create entire pages. Used and additionally stained with tea or coffee, they give a fantastic aged effect, which is a key aspect of junk journals. Those with windows can be further decorated, for example, by backing the window with a dried flower. In short, envelopes really enhance a junk journal!

Today, I'll share three ideas for using them in our notebook.

Do tworzenia przygotujcie:

- koperty różnego rodzaju, mogą być zapisane, takie, które dostaliście od kogoś lub czyste, jedną z okienkiem,

- papier, którego używaliście wcześniej do ozdabiania JJ,

- wszelkie przydasie typu stare książki, nuty czy inne karteczki nadające się do ozdabiania,

- ususzone kwiatki, roślinki,

- Sznurek jutowy albo lniany,

- spinacze i ćwieki,

- kółeczka z dziurkacza ok 1.5 cm średnicy,

- wszelkie ozdoby, jakie chcecie użyć - guziki, kaboszony, koronki kwiaty...

- klej, nożyczki, 

- coś do bigowania (ja mam tablicę i kość, ale może być wypisany długopis).

For this project, prepare the following:

- Envelopes of various kinds: they can be written on, received from someone, or blank, and include one with a window.
- Paper that you've previously used to decorate your Junk Journal.
- Any useful items such as old books, sheet music, or other papers suitable for decorating.
- Dried flowers and plants.
- Jute or linen twine.
- Paper clips and brads.
- Circles punched from paper, about 1.5 cm in diameter.
- Any decorations you want to use: buttons, cabochons, lace flowers, etc.
|- Glue, scissors.
- Something for scoring (I have a scoreboard and a bone folder, but a spent pen will also work).

Pamiętajcie, że moje propozycje są tylko inspiracją!
Nie musicie niczego robić identycznie, ale miło mi będzie, jeśli moje pomysły przypadną Wam do gustu i wykorzystacie je w swoich junkach :).

Trzy sposoby na użycie kopert w JUNK JOURNALU.
Three Ways to Use Envelopes in a JUNK JOURNAL.

Sposób 1. Koperta jako element wkładu w notesie.

Tak się złożyło, że pomiędzy moimi dwoma wkładami zostało mi trochę zbyt dużo wolnego miejsca. Postanowiłam więc zrobić sobie dodatkową wkładkę z kopert. Będzie to ciekawy efekt i pojemny schowek na pamiątki. Jak to zrobić? Bardzo prosto!

Krok 1. Potrzebujemy dwóch kopert. Ja wybrałam kraftowe, kwadratowe (od GoatBox). Obie zaginam od strony bez klapek na szerokość kilku milimetrów.

Krok 2. Sklejam koperty ze sobą nakładając na siebie zbigowane części.

Krok 3. Pamiętajmy o stworzeniu zamknięć, aby klapki nam "nie latały" przy otwieraniu. U mnie tym razem będzie to coś nieoczywistego - zrobię zamknięcie na rzepy. Kupiłam je kiedyś, dawno w jakimś sklepie scrapowym i czekały sobie na swoją kolej. Myślę, ze fajnie się tu sprawdzą.

Innym sposobem jest przełożenie wstążek czy sznurków przez koperty tak, aby po zawiązaniu trzymały klapki. Sznurki/ wstążki z drugiej strony kopert można zakleić papierem scrapowym lub innym. 

Krok 4. Teraz możemy nasze koperty dowolnie ozdobić.

Krok 5. Czas na mocowanie do notesu. Przekładamy dosyć długi sznurek przez środek naszych kopert, a następnie przez grzbiet notesu i na grzbiecie go zawiązujemy. Można ten sznurek przełożyć kilka razy. Można również potem dowiązać do sznurka jeszcze ozdobne koronki czy wstążki albo dowiązać jakieś dyndadełka. Ogranicza nas tylko wyobraźnia :).

Method 1. Envelope as an Insert in the Journal

It just so happened that I had a bit too much free space between my two inserts. So, I decided to create an additional insert using envelopes. This will add an interesting effect and a spacious compartment for keepsakes. How to do it? Very easily!

Step 1.* We need two envelopes. I chose kraft, square ones (from GoatBox). Fold both of them from the side without the flaps, creating a fold of a few millimeters.

Step 2.* Glue the envelopes together by overlapping the folded parts.

Step 3.* Remember to create closures to keep the flaps from flapping around when opening. This time, I'll use something unconventional - Velcro closures. I bought them long ago at a scrapbooking store, and they've been waiting for their turn. I think they'll work well here.

Another method is threading ribbons or strings through the envelopes so that they hold the flaps together when tied. You can cover the ends of the ribbons/strings on the other side of the envelopes with scrapbooking paper or other materials.

Step 4.* Now we can decorate our envelopes as we like. 

Step 5.* Time to attach it to the journal. Thread a fairly long string through the center of our envelopes, then through the spine of the journal, and tie it on the spine. You can thread the string multiple times. You can also tie decorative lace, ribbons, or charms to the string. The only limit is your imagination!

Sposób 2. Koperta jako klapka + ozdobne okienko.

Wykorzystam tu kopertę z recyklingu. Jak widzicie  był w niej rachunek za prąd, ale nawet taki dramat da się przekuć w coś miłego :) :) :)  Zatem będziemy tworzyć z takiej koperty klapkę, a okienko będzie nam dodatkową ozdobą.

Krok 1. 

Przycinamy kopertę tak, by pasowała do wielkości wkładu. Jest dość duża, więc spory kawałek odcinam. 

Method 2: Envelope as a Flap + Decorative Window

I’ll use a recycled envelope for this. As you can see, it once contained an electricity bill, but even such a drama can be turned into something pleasant :) :) :) So, we’ll be creating a flap from this envelope, and the window will serve as an additional decoration.

Step 1: Trimming the Envelope

Trim the envelope to match the size of the insert. It's quite large, so I'll be cutting off a significant piece.

Krok 2.  

Zaginamy kopertę na krótszym boku na szerokość kilku milimetrów. Tym elementem przykleimy kopertę do kartki. Jeśli ktoś ma maszynę to super będzie ją przyszyć. Ja niestety nie posiadam.

Step 2: Folding the Envelope

Fold the shorter side of the envelope by a few millimeters. This folded edge will be used to glue the envelope to the card. If you have a sewing machine, stitching it would be a great touch. Unfortunately, I don’t have one.

Krok 3. Tuszujemy brzegi i oklejamy kopertę. 

Przyznacie sami, że trzeba zatrzeć ślady po rachunku ;) Ja posłużę się tutaj takim jakby kolażem. Będę oklejać moją kopertę kawałkami papieru scrapowego, kartkami książki, nutkami tak jak widzicie poniżej. Świetnie pozwala to wykorzystać różne resztki. Można też fajnie wpleść różne wycinki np. wyciąć postaci z obrazków tak jak ja to zrobiłam. Cały czas korzystam oczywiście z papierów od ITD Collection.

Step 3: Inking the Edges and Decorating the Envelope

Admit it, we need to cover up the traces of the bill ;) I’ll use a kind of collage here. I’ll decorate my envelope with pieces of scrapbook paper, book pages, and sheet music, as you can see below. This is a great way to use up various scraps. You can also creatively incorporate different cutouts, like cutting out characters from pictures, just like I did. Of course, I’m using papers from the ITD Collection throughout the process.

Krok 4. Bierzemy zasuszony kwiatek czy inną roślinkę i naklejamy ją na kawałek starej książki. Jej wielkość dopasowujemy do okienka w kopercie.  Tak przygotowaną ozdobą podklejamy okienko w kopercie. Koperta jest sporych rozmiarów, więc z powodzeniem można ją rozszerzyć i podkleić okienko. 

Step 4: Adding a Dried Flower

Take a dried flower or another plant and glue it onto a piece of an old book page. Adjust its size to fit the window of the envelope. Use this prepared decoration to back the window in the envelope. The envelope is quite large, so you can easily extend it and attach the window.

Krok 5. Do tego, by koperta się nam sama nie otwierała posłużą mi dwa spinacze. Można je również ładnie ozdobić. 

Krok 4. Przyklejamy tak przygotowaną klapkę do wybranej strony w Junk Journalu. Spójrzcie jaka to pojemna i efektowna skrytka.

Sposób 3. Koperta jako kieszonka.

Tym razem użyjemy kwadratowej koperty.

Method 3. Envelope as a Pocket.

This time we'll use a square envelope.

Krok 1. 

Odcinamy część koperty tak jak na zdjęciu.

Step 1. 

Cut off part of the envelope as shown in the picture.

Krok 2. 

Przyklejamy kopertę do wybranej strony w JJ.

Step 2. 

Glue the envelope to the chosen page in your Junk Journal.

Powstała nam na szybko bardzo fajna kieszonka.

We've quickly created a very nice pocket.

Krok 3. 

Teraz czas na ozdabianie. Ja tym razem użyję stempli oraz koronki, kawalka starej książki i obrazków z kolekcji. Dodałam też maszynę do pisania. Na koniec na brzegach kieszonki zrobiłam "przeszycia" cienkopisem.

Step 3. 

Now it's time for decorating. This time, I'll use stamps and lace, a piece of an old book, and images from a collection. I also added a typewriter. Finally, I made "stitches" along the edges of the pocket with a fine-tipped pen.

Nasza kieszonka jest gotowa. Prawda, że szybko i łatwo?
